Public Lights

Public Lights

More pictures below, taken the same night.

[Edit]
Due to the popularity of this picture, much to my dismay, here are some more details.

This series was taken in Switzerland during December 2008. We had incredible snowfalls, thanks to the global warming.
The giraffe on the picture is a construction of sort of a local artist. He built and elephant, too and I suspect a lion is under construction.

For the technical details:
The camera used was a Canon 5D with a tripod. The exposure I don’t remember. 10-15sec, I guess.
On the postprocessing side, it’s a sort of false HDR. It’s a blend (addition) of the same picture with different exposures.
Also, a bit of noise cleaning due to a tired sensor and an addiction to thermal noise.

On the eerie and mood side; it was really a magic night. I remember walking all night (until fog came) with the tripod and camera. I couldn’t get enough. Only the present moment existed and somehow I didn’t want to leave this inner peace. Might it be present in the pictures also and felt by some of you, then I’ll be very happy. After all, the present moment is all we have.

Enjoy!

Wow! Peaceful, beautiful scenery. Why is it when I see scenery like this I get a warm feeling inside? When the scenery is cold?
